Mitzi Gaynor is dead, the musical star was 93 years old

Mitzi Gaynor, an American actress and dancer, star of musicals from the 1950s, died on Thursday of natural causes – the AP reported. Gaynor was 93 years old. She was one of the last living stars of the golden age of Hollywood musicals.

Mitzi Gaynor has performed alongside such celebrities as Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra and Gene Kelly. She died peacefully on Thursday morning in Los Angeles, AP reported.

“For eight decades she entertained audiences in films, on television and on stage (…) Off the stage, she was a vibrant and extraordinary woman, a caring and loyal friend, as well as a warm, polite, very funny and overall wonderful person,” they wrote on the X website managers.

Mitzi Gaynor is dead

Gaynor played, among others, in the films “My Blue Heaven”, “Nothing Like Show Business”, “Money or Love”, “Dancing Girls”, and “The Comedian”. She was best known for her role as the lovestruck nurse Nellie Forbush in the film “South Pacific”, and was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical.

Gaynor and her husband, talent agent Jack Bean, were married for 52 years until his death in 2006. They had no children, Reuters reported.
