The police have detained a 52-year-old who, leaving the S7 expressway, drove against traffic at a junction and hit the barriers. The man had almost four per mille of alcohol in his system.
As reported by Anna Pawłowska from the District Police Headquarters in Mława, the incident occurred on Wednesday, at noon, on the S7 route in the area of Warszawska Street in Mława. “The driver of the Hyundai, a 52-year-old resident of Skierniewice, driving on the S7 route from the direction of Gdańsk, entered the junction in the area of Warszawska Street, on a one-way road, against traffic and hit the safety barriers. He tried to escape, but the drivers of the trucks did not allow him to do so, who immediately notified the police. The 52-year-old was intoxicated, he had over 3.8 per mille of alcohol,” Pawłowska said in a statement.
The 52-year-old was taken into custody. The man lost his driving license in two categories. After sobering up, he was charged with driving while intoxicated. He faces a hefty fine, the loss of his car, and up to three years in prison.

The spokeswoman for the Mława police also reported that on the same day, a few hours later, also on the S7 route, this time in the Pepłów area, a traffic patrol stopped the driver of a Peugeot, a 46-year-old resident of Wołomin. “The man had over 1.2 per mille of alcohol, he was driving to Gdańsk,” the policewoman indicated. He was also taken to jail. He lost his driving license in three categories. He also faces a high fine and three years in prison.
The long August weekend is underway. Police are appealing to people to be extra careful, to follow traffic regulations, speed limits and to stay sober while driving.
