Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said that during the meeting of European defense ministers at the NATO headquarters in Brussels, a plan to react quickly was adopted by NATO. He also talked about subsequent decisions regarding the protection of the Baltic Sea and increasing defense expenditure. “Europe must do this lesson,” he said.
On Thursday, the defense minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz took part in a press conference in Brussels, during which he announced that he had “very good information”. – We agreed, it was not easy, negotiations lasted until the last moment, but the plan of the ability to react quickly by NATO – he said.
As he explained, in practice this means “increasing the possibility of protecting the particularly eastern NATO flank, especially Poland through all allied forces.” – Here, allied unity is emphasized and preserved. All countries had to agree for this – he noted.
The second issue that Kosiniak-Kamysz referred to is the Baltic Sea protection initiative by the Baltic Guard, which Prime Minister Donald Tusk reported a few weeks ago at the meeting in Stockholm.
– This mission was activated by the Secretary General (Natural), and today we heard the declaration that not only the countries lying on the Baltic Sea, but also France, Belgium, others our allied will be involved in protecting critical infrastructure, prevent incidents related to violating, picking cables, anchors, which are the reason for damage to critical infrastructure cables – he said.

Kosiniak-Kamysz: Europe must do this lesson
The head of the Ministry of Defense said that during the meeting his statement began with the issue of expenditure on reinforcement. – Poland has full right, and in my opinion even an obligation to talk about it clearly and clearly, that without increased expenses no plans, our ambitious intentions, our strategic goals will never be achieved – he noted.
– Europe must do this lesson not to replace the United States in Europe and American troops, because their presence is necessary, but to keep them. This is what increased expenses are for – said Kosiniak -Kamysz.
He explained that Poland spends 4.7 percent of GDP on defense, i.e. from all European countries is the closest to 5 percent, for which US President Donald Trump appealed to NATO members. – It shows that we will not only be an example, not only a model, but we will mobilize other countries and do it, because I think that without it there is no safe Europe and there is no safe world – he announced.
