For now, it's the holidays, so the trust polls in politicians are more like summer temperatures, but autumn is just around the corner, and with it another campaign. And then the support columns will be red hot. There are the first signals about who has reason to worry, and who has prospects for success.

Rafał Trzaskowski is a politician who stands on the highest step of the podium today. In July, according to the IBRiS poll for Onet, the mayor of Warsaw is the politician who enjoys the greatest trust.

– You always have to evaluate the rankings with a certain amount of restraint, because they are simply changing all the time, but of course it is nice that we are at the top – comments President Trzaskowski.

For the first time since March, Rafał Trzaskowski is the leader with a trust level of 43 percent – he is ahead of both Prime Minister Donald Tusk and President Andrzej Duda, the previous leader of the ranking. The president is trusted by slightly over 40 percent of respondents, with a negative assessment of almost 50 percent. This is a significant loss compared to the previous month.

It is not certain who Tusk will choose

For now, however, Rafał Trzaskowski is neither officially the Civic Coalition's candidate in the presidential elections, nor is there a guarantee that Donald Tusk will choose him.

– There are of course politicians who have such ambitions. We will make a decision in the fall – announces Rafał Trzaskowski.

– Am I thinking about running? Yes, I am. I am probably one of the few who say this openly – said on July 26 in the Sejm, Marshal of the Sejm Szymon Hołownia, who took fourth place in the ranking.

Increased trust in the Prime Minister

Compared to June, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, president of the Polish People's Party, recorded a worse result. – He lost the PSL's rather clear-cut attitude to the issue of abortion – assesses Professor Szymon Ossowski, political scientist from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań.

Analyzing the results, sociologists admit that the increase in trust in the Prime Minister came as a surprise to them.

– This increase in trust in Tusk is a threat to Trzaskowski – comments Professor Anna Wojciuk, a political scientist from the University of Warsaw.

The Left's potential candidates in the presidential elections, namely Agnieszka Dziemianowicz-Bąk and Krzysztof Gawkowski, found themselves outside the top ten. – We are doing our own thing. We have our plan, we are doing it consistently – comments the Left's MP Tomasz Trela.

– If you ask me what banner I should run under, then of course under the banner of the United Right. If there is a better candidate, I will not push myself either – says Patryk Jaki, MEP of Law and Justice. Patryk Jaki is a politician who did not make it to this ranking, but who is today one of the few who openly declares his willingness to run in the presidential elections.

The former prime minister admitted on July 29 that Patryk Jaki is also on the list of 10 candidates whose support the Law and Justice authorities are checking in surveys. – Of course, we are examining all candidates in which we believe they can fight for victory – says former prime minister, Law and Justice MP Mateusz Morawiecki.

Politicians who lost ground compared to June include Andrzej Duda, Mateusz Morawiecki and Jarosław Kaczyński. Sociologists were also surprised by the lack of Law and Justice politicians at the top of the rankings.

– (This poll – ed.) takes away Mateusz Morawiecki's hopes. It shows that he has such a large negative electorate that PiS has to look for a candidate for president – assesses professor Szymon Ossowski.
