North Korea. Pyongyang strengthens protection of Kim Jong Un. There are fears of an attack

North Korea has strengthened the protection of its leader Kim Jong Un, South Korea's National Intelligence Service (NIS) said on Tuesday. Attention was drawn to the dictator's increased public activity and it was explained that these measures were taken due to possible attempts to assassinate him.

The new security measures include the use of vehicles equipped with communications jamming systems and drone detection equipment, said South Korean MPs attending a closed session of the parliament's intelligence committee.

Kim appears in public much more often

According to the findings of the National Intelligence Service (NIS), this year Kim Jong Un he made 110 public appearances. This is 60 percent more often than last year.

The intelligence services also confirmed the reports of the Yonhap agency, which reported that North Korea began to move away from the Juche calendar, i.e. the system of counting the years since the birth of Kim Il-sung, the country's founder, as a sign of intensifying efforts to strengthen Kim Jong Un's position as the sole leader of the nation.
