One hundred million zlotys to save monuments destroyed in the flood. Who can apply for this money?

The head of the Ministry of Culture is visiting Lower Silesia on Saturday. The Minister visited the monuments that suffered in the flood, but also those that were not affected by the September cataclysm – including: applying for entry on the UNESCO list of the Papermaking Museum in Duszniki-Zdrój. The press conference in Stronie Śląskie with the participation of the head of the Ministry of Culture took place at the Chapel of St. Onufry. This monument is located in close proximity to the dam on the Morawka River, the embankment of which was washed away during the September flood. The chapel was heavily damaged by the water that hit the building violently.

The head of the Ministry of Culture reminded that under a special ministerial program, PLN 100 million would be allocated to save monuments that were destroyed in the flood. Applications for funding under this program can be submitted until January 31.

Local governments, owners and managers of monuments can apply for the money. – We know that PLN 100 million is not enough. During the year, we will monitor the situation with the provincial conservator, the minister of finance, the provincial government, MPs and senators. We will try to ensure that this assistance is not interrupted at this amount of PLN 100 million, said Wróblewska. The minister emphasized that the reconstruction of monuments must be preceded by documentation and conservative conservation. – This money (PLN 100 million – editor's note) is intended for the creation of documentation, but also for conservative conservation – emphasized Wróblewska.

Deputy Speaker of the Sejm Monika Wielichowska she recalled that at the end of last year a Lower Silesian team for saving monuments was established in parliament. – One quarter of Poland's monuments are located in Lower Silesia, mainly in the Kłodzko Land. We also want to talk about monuments that did not suffer in the flood, said Wielichowska. Senator Barbara Zdrojewska (KO), chairwoman of the Lower Silesian team for saving monuments, emphasized that the team aims to “change the algorithm of allocating money for monuments.” – Currently, the national algorithm does not notice and does not adjust to the number of monuments in a given area. That is why Lower Silesia, but also the Opole and Silesian regions, are harmed when it comes to the distribution of money, Zdrojewska said. There are 8.6 thousand in Lower Silesia. immovable monuments and over 40 thousand mobile.
