CO2 compensation: In October, the company PKP Intercity has introduced the possibility making special donations by passengers when buying online tickets (the option is currently only about payments made by BLIK). It was declared that donations were to be intended for activities related to, among others with planting trees, animal protection, thermomodernization, investments in renewable energy sources. “CO2 compensation on the transport market, both land and aviation, is already introduced by many companies offering transport services. In the domestic market, such action introduced Polish Airlines FLIGHT” – PKP Intercity indicated at the time.

Passenger reactions: “We received until March 25, 2025 7,136 paymentsfor a total amount of several thousand zlotys. Payments for CO2 compensation were made by around 1 in 1,400 Passengers buying a ticket ” – Maciej Dutkiewicz spokesman PKP Maciej Dutkiewicz told Gazeta.pl.

What money will be allocated for: “The collected funds will first be allocated to Spring planting of trees Together with Podziam.pl. We are also finalizing cooperation with the PKP Group Foundation, with which we will implement a biodiversity supporting campaign (flower bombs). Soon travelers will be able to see the first effects of actions taken thanks to the collected payments ” – declared the spokesman for PKP Intercity.
