During the press conference of European conservatives and reformers in the European Parliament, a quarrel between Patryk Jaki and the Italian journalist. The MEP criticized the decision of the French court, which sentenced Marine Le Pen. – You talk about propaganda, and you sell propaganda here. Why do you judge French judges at all? Federica Bianchi asked.
The French court recognized the leader of the extreme right Marine Le Pen For guilty of embracing large sums of money. The verdict is four years in prison, including two suspended and a five -year ban on public functions. It also means a ban on starting in the presidential election in 2027.
MEP Patryk Jaki (Law and Justice, co -chairman of the European conservatives and reformers at the EP) referred to the matter on Tuesday. – We can't talk about citizens' freedom if they can't choose who they want. For example, recently there were elections in Romania And these elections were canceled because the wrong candidate won. Now Marine Le Pen has been prevented from starting elections to avoid the risk that she would not win in the future. This is not a democracy – said Jaki.
– I think that they do not remove Marine Le Pen's rights, but remove the rights of citizens to choose who they really want – argued the politician. According to him, the verdict is a “political decision”.
“You talk about propaganda, and you sell propaganda here”
Nicola Procaccini (co -chairman of the ECR) said that in his opinion it was a “political decision.” – current prime minister France Francois Bayrou was acquitted exactly from the same allegations as Marine Le Pen. Two different decisions, even if the case was exactly the same. This shows how political the decision was yesterday and why we are so worried about the rule of law – he said.
During Procaccini's speech, he turned to the journalist present at the conference: – Could you tell us why he laughs?

– Yes of course. I laugh because you are talking about the rule of law. At the moment you are judging a free justice system in another country, in France. How's the garbage? You are not French. French judges have made this decision, and now you judge what they are doing – said Italian journalist Federica Bianchi from L'Espresso.
– You talk about propaganda, and you sell propaganda here in this room. Why do you judge French judges at all? she asked.

Later, Nicola Procaccini commented that “you may laugh because she is not a serious journalist.” “Please, withdraw these offensive words and stop such statements,” Bianchi protested.
