Pension recalculation – who can benefit?

Social Insurance Institution recalculates the pension if, after granting the benefit, the person continued to work or paid social security contributions. This also applies to people who when submitting application for a pension they did not have all the documents for the insurance periods. People who can provide documentation may also apply for a recalculation of the benefit earnings for the years before the year of retirement or the earnings he received after the benefit was granted.

From April 1, 2024 ZUS uses the new Central Statistical Office table to calculate the amount of newly granted pensions. Unfortunately, the pension recalculation results in a 3.7% lower benefit. for people aged 60, and for people aged 65 by 4.1%. lower than based on the previous table. The new Central Statistical Office data does not apply to people who have already retired. There is no need to submit an application for pension conversion due to the announcement of the new Central Statistical Office table.

Pension conversion – how to apply?

It is worth knowing that recalculating your pension cannot result in its reduction. If, in the event of recalculation of the benefit, the new pension would be lower, its amount will remain the same. An application for a pension recalculation must include a current certificate of the pension amount, photocopies of identity documents, documents confirming contribution periods and income certificates.
