To be able to retire, you must reach a certain age. For women it is 60 years, for men it is 65 years. In addition, the condition for acquiring the right to a pension is the payment of social security or pension and disability insurance contributions.
The amount of the pension depends, among others, on: from the accumulated capital in the ZUS account. This is the reconstructed amount of social security contributions that were paid during professional activity. Its amount depends on the length of service and earnings at that time. Equally important in the calculations are the indexation of contributions and pensions as well as life expectancy tables published by the Central Statistical Office.
In September, ZUS revealed the amount of the average pension paid in Poland in 2024. In the first half of this year it amounted to PLN 3,516.95. The minimum pension paid after reaching retirement age and appropriate length of service (20 years for women and 25 years for men) is PLN 1,780.96 gross.
