– Currently, there are not many potential presidential candidates in our party, this group has narrowed down to less than five people – said Jacek Sasin from PiS, former deputy prime minister and former minister of state assets, in “Kropka nad i” on TVN24. He confirmed that Mateusz Morawiecki was not among this group. He added that a decision on this matter may be announced in November.

Jacek Sasin he was asked in “Kropka nad i” on TVN24 about how many people currently… PiS there are candidates for the presidential election.

– Not too many at the moment, because this group has narrowed. She is less than five people, he replied. When asked about specific names, he replied: – I don't want to talk about these names here, because I don't want to heat up this discussion about these names. These are all very good candidates.

However, he confirmed that the former prime minister was not among this group Mateusz Morawiecki. Asked if he was in it Mariusz Błaszczakreplied: – You could say that it is still in these discussions.

– Primary elections, which were actually on the table as a topic for discussion, make sense if they can be seriously conducted. We are far from making any media stunts. And it is simply impossible to hold and organize such real primaries in such a short time, Sasin continued. At the same time, he admitted that the president would have the “deciding vote” on this matter Jarosław Kaczyński.

Sasin: maybe a candidate will be announced in November

He added that talks on selecting a candidate “are taking place in various formats.” – First of all, in the party leadership, the presidium of the Political Committee. But a special team was also established to meet with these candidates, talk to them, question them and assess their competences to be able to run in these elections – he continued.

– I think that perhaps this candidacy will be announced in November. I think it may be in November, but we are not committed to any date, said the former deputy prime minister.

Sasin: I think it was an attack

Sasin also referred to the fact that 41 notifications regarding the Smolensk subcommittee had been submitted to the National Prosecutor's Office, 24 of which concern Antoni Macierewicz and 10 about former Minister of Defense Mariusz Błaszczak. This is the result of the work of the team that assessed the functioning of this subcommittee.

The prosecutor's office received 41 notifications regarding the Smolensk subcommittee

– It all looks very frivolous and if the topic were not as serious as the Smolensk tragedy, this whole report could be ridiculed – he added.

He also commented on Macierewicz's words that Russia and Germany “those striving to create a Eurasian system decided it was necessary to murder the president.” – Minister Macierewicz probably has the greatest knowledge on this subject – he replied.

– In my opinion it was an attack. In my opinion, the subcommittee's report confirms this. Under no circumstances will I believe that the President of Poland, who heroically opposed the Russian invasion and aggression, opposed Putin, repeatedly thwarted his plans, dies on Russian territory in tragic circumstances and that it is an ordinary accident – said the TVN24 guest.
