The 20-year-old suspected of an attempt to rape a 13-year-old will remain in custody-the District Court in Nowy Sącz decided. The preventive measure was extended on Thursday by another three months.
The attack took place on February 12, when the girl went to school.
– The collection of evidence is still underway. By decision of the District Court in Nowy Sącz, a temporary arrest was extended to the suspect for the next three months, i.e. until July 12 – said on Thursday a spokeswoman for the District Prosecutor's Office in Nowy Sącz, prosecutor Justyna Rataj -Mykyn.
Attack on a student
According to investigators, on February 12, the suspect attacked a 13-year-old going to school through Laszek in the center of Rabka-Zdrój. The man was to knock over the girl, beat her and smash her, trying to lead her to sexual intercourse. The victim defended herself and screamed, which frightened the attacker. The girl was hospitalized, but her injuries did not require longer hospitalization.
The suspect was detained on the same day at the place of residence. The police determined his identity thanks to the monitoring recording. The man heard the charge of attempted rape, for which he has been punishable by imprisonment for five years to life imprisonment. During the interrogation, he pleaded not guilty.
The District Court in Nowy Targ initially agreed to release the suspect in the amount of 50,000. PLN, which was paid on the same day. The suspect remained under police supervision, he had a ban on contact with the victim and witnesses and a ban on leaving the country. After dismissing the prosecutor's office, the District Court annulled this decision and ordered the arrest of the suspect.
