At night, there was an apartment fire in a block of flats at Tomaszowska Street in Rawa Mazowiecka. Firefighters evacuated a 78-year-old woman from the premises where the fire was sourced, but unfortunately her life could not be saved.
Firefighters were alerted to the fire around 3:10 a.m. between Sunday and Monday. Four fire brigades from the State Fire Service and one fire brigade from the Rawa Volunteer Fire Department were sent to the site. 17 people were evacuated from the block.
– After arriving at the scene, it was found that there was a fire in the apartment on the third floor. According to information obtained from the reporting parties, there was a woman inside – says Captain Tomasz Krupiński, spokesman for the District Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Rawa Mazowiecka.
Fatal casualty
Firefighters extinguished the burning items of equipment in the apartment where the woman was and then took her outside.
– She was given qualified first aid. After the emergency medical team arrived at the scene, the injured person was handed over, but despite the efforts of both rescuers and firefighters, the person could not be saved – says Capt. Krupiński.
While the fire extinguishing operation was still underway, the officer on duty at the Provincial Rescue Coordination Station in Łódź said that the cause of the fire was most likely the ignition of the fire, which ignited the bed in the apartment of the tragedy victim.
