- Move carefully. Keep your steps short and flat, avoiding rushing. Keep your hands free to help maintain balance.
- Walk on gravel sidewalks. Choose routes that have been sprinkled with sand, salt or other non-slip material.
- Be careful when driving. If you must drive, drive slowly, avoid sudden braking and keep a greater distance from other vehicles.
- Pay attention to dangerous places. Avoid shady and less frequented sidewalks where ice may be less noticeable.
- Avoid using your phone while walking. Focus on the road and possible hazards so as not to lose your balance.
- Dress warmly and in layers. If you are outdoors for a long time, make sure you wear appropriate clothing to avoid hypothermia or frostbite.
