The Polish consulate general in St. Petersburg will be closed on January 10 next year, and three of our diplomats have been declared persona non grata and are to leave the country, according to a statement from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In response, Radosław Sikorski said that Warsaw was taking this step with “dignified indifference”.
According to a statement from the Russian Ministry of Diplomacy, the decision was made “in response to the closure of the Consulate General of Russia in Poznań by the Polish authorities on November 30.” Three Polish diplomats were declared undesirable persons Russia and is now expected to leave the country, it added.
During a meeting with journalists at Malta Sikorski, referring to Russia's response to the closure of its consulate in Poznań, stated that “we accept this Russian decision with dignified indifference because we expected it.”
– Russia actually has no right to counter-move, because the closure of the consulate in Poznań was caused by acts of sabotage in Poland and allied countries. These acts of sabotage are crimes that have not yet resulted in victims only thanks to lucky coincidences. But everyone knows what Russia is like, added the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
