Sales of new cars in Russia increased by 47 percent in 2024, reported Russian news agencies cited by Reuters. This is another year of making up for the huge decline that occurred in 2022, after Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
“Sales of new passenger cars in Russia increased by 47 percent last year to 1.55 million units,” said the Russian Ministry of Industry, quoted by Reuters.
Sales decline in 2025
The Russian agency Autostat predicts that this year sales will drop by about 10 percent. up to 1.43 million pieces. As explained, the main reasons for the deterioration of results are high inflation and an increase in scrapping fees.
The agency noted that Moscow's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, drastically changed the Russian car market due to Western car manufacturers abandoning the country.
