A 61-year-old man who drove to a store in Sandomierz had over three per mille of alcohol in his body. The fact that he was driving in a zigzag direction was reported by a witness who prevented the drunk driver from leaving the parking lot.

One of the drivers informed the police about the dangerous maneuvers of the Volkswagen in Sandomierz. According to him, the vehicle ran a red light and was driving in a zigzag direction. The witness suspected that the driver of the car might be under the influence of alcohol, so he followed him.

At one point, the vehicle stopped in a parking lot next to one of the stores. A man got out of the car and staggered into the shopping center. The reporting person then prevented him from driving further.

The police arrived at the scene. “It turned out that an extremely irresponsible 61-year-old resident of Sandomierz is intoxicated and has over 3 per mille of alcohol in his exhaled air,” said junior aspirant Iwona Paluch, press officer of the Sandomierz police, in a statement.

The 61-year-old now faces up to three years in prison.
