Second Yalta? “I only see poor negotiations”

The slogan “Second Yalta” circulated the whole world. Donald Trump wants to bring peace in Ukraine, killing a “deal” with Russia and not even inviting Ukraine to talk. The spirit of “Second Yalta” seems clear, which for Vladimir Putin sounds like a dream come true. The interest of the US, and even more so Europe, is less pronounced. Why does Trump criticize his partners and praise dictators?
Detachment of “eastern territory” by imposing a new border with the Russians, we will accept “as a new demolition”, “this time made by allies”. “This method (…) is not only a denial of the elementary principles that apply to allies, but is an undoubted violation of (…) of everyone to defend their own interests.” It could be the words of Wołodymyr Zelanski, spoken when a new boss Pentagon announced that The recovery of Ukrainian territories conquered by Russia is “unreal”.
But these are the words of the last prime minister of the Second Polish Republic, Tomasz Arciszewski, spoken in February 1945, when the provisions of the Yalta conference were announced, at which the post -war shape of Europe was decided. Europe, in which The Polish, democratic ally of the West, was ignored and put under the control of Moscow. Then three main powers – United StatesSoviet Union i Great Britain – They decided about the fate of all other European countries, without inviting them to talk.
Today, exactly 80 years later, it's hard not to see the similarities in current events, when the US and Russia want to decide on the fate of Ukraine themselves. Does the story really repeat itself before our eyes, or is “New Yalta” an empty slogan? And why Donald Trump He decided to change the American policy towards Ukraine overnight and instead of defending the victim, he chose to get along with the attacker?
Second Yalta
Although we do not yet know the details of American-Russian conversations regarding Ukraine, similarities to the Yalta conference are clearly visible. However, differences are also clearly visible. For example, such that 80 years ago they negotiated with each other three powers that defeated the aggressor, then Nazi Germany. Today, however, the United States negotiates with the aggressor, somehow giving up the fight, which – indirectly – were a party. Meanwhile, the fight itself continues and at least in terms of military resolution cannot be seen.
