Police officers from the Siedlce traffic police noticed a man walking barefoot along national road number two. The 46-year-old was extremely hypothermic. His body temperature dropped to 28 degrees, which threatened his health.
Siedlce police spokeswoman, Commissioner Ewelina Radomyska, said that on Monday, traffic officers patrolling the area noticed a pedestrian at the entrance to the highway under construction in Gręzów. The officers noticed that the man had no shoes and was dressed inappropriately for the season.
He seemed confused
When they asked the man if he needed help, he seemed confused. They called an ambulance.
– The 46-year-old was hypothermic. His body temperature dropped to 28 degrees Celsius and he needed immediate intervention, the spokeswoman said. The police do not say why the man had no clothes, or whether he was sick or homeless.
The spokeswoman appealed not to be indifferent to people exposed to hypothermia in any situation. She added that the most common victims of frost are homeless, elderly and intoxicated people outdoors.

Commissioner Radomyska reminded that sometimes one phone call can save a life. – If we notice people lying down or sitting for a long time near railway stations or on benches in parks or living in empty buildings, do not hesitate, just call the emergency number and notify the services – said the policewoman.
Prolonged exposure to cold can cause body temperature to drop below safe levels, resulting in hypothermia. Its symptoms include tremors, disorientation and weakness, and in extreme cases, loss of consciousness and death.
