An 80-year-old man who damaged five cars near the railway station in Skierniewice (Łódź Voivodeship) may face up to five years in prison. According to the police, he wanted to punish vehicle owners for incorrect parking. The man, who had no previous criminal record, caused damage worth PLN 8,500.
According to Superintendent Magdalena Studniarek, within a month – from the end of August to the end of September – the Skierniewice police headquarters received five reports regarding damage to the paint coatings of vehicles parked near the station. He wanted to punish drivers for parking incorrectly
– It was not easy to identify the perpetrator, but the officers were helped by the recording from the city monitoring. They learned the image of the suspect, thanks to which they detained him at the beginning of October while he was walking on the sidewalk near the place where the crimes were committed. He was an 80-year-old resident of Ciechanów, who is temporarily staying with his daughter in Skierniewice. The man was charged with damaging vehicles, and the total value of the damage was estimated at PLN 8.5 thousand, said Superintendent Magdalena Studniarek from the Skierniewice police headquarters.
During his testimony, the 80-year-old admitted that he wanted to punish drivers who, in his opinion, parked their vehicles in a way that made it difficult for him to pass. The man had no previous criminal record. He faces five years in prison.
