In a month and a half, Dr. Sławosz Uznański-Wiśniewski will fly into space and make experiments with the participation of a computer, algae and his own body. He will literally get involved in himself, because even his intestines will play an important role, and his thoughts very pioneering.
A cap with electrodes is not a gadget from the science fiction movie, but a device for communicating with thoughts. Dr. Sławosz Uznański-Wiśniewski will take such a device into space. The company from Lublin will check that the astronaut will be able to control the computer only thoughts.
– In extreme conditions from the company Cortivision.
This is part of the Polish research package in orbit. In total, there are thirteen experiments. Scientists from the Military University of Technology will thoroughly examine the body of the astronaut, because in addition to bacteria in the intestines they will also take a closer look at its immune system.

– Our experiment is to study the intestinal microbiome – explains prof. Elżbieta apt from the Biomedical Engineering Center of the Optoelectronics Institute of Military University of Technology.
– We are interested in the cells of the immune system. We will isolate genetic material from them and then perform molecular tests – introduces Dr. Alicja Trębińska -Stryjewska from the Biomedical Engineering Center of the Optoelectronics of the Military University of Technology.
Volcanic algae and modified yeast
Mrs. Ewa Borowska from the company Extremo Technologies will entrust the astronaut of volcanic algae. They can process waste and produce oxygen. In the future, they will support a mission to Mars. Like genetically modified yeast, which can be a source of food. – Why not look at how these organisms adapt to such difficult conditions? – asks Ewa Szuszkiewicz, coordinator of the Polish Astrobiological Center, University of Szczecin.
The Dragon capsules will still be included in the supercomputer from Gliwice, Supercienkie Nanomaterials from Krakow and Warsaw noise measurement systems at the station. – The problem of acoustics and the problem of exposure to noise at the international space station is large and it is necessary to ensure that future astronauts can stay safely there – indicates Bartłomiej Barwicz, president of SVANTEK.
A long list of tasks, insulation and rocket flight are a recipe for stress. Scientists from Gdańsk and Katowice want to see how the human body and mind deal with them. – We are curious what features can be more useful to adapt to such adverse conditions, but also how our psyche works in time – says Dr. Agnieszka Skorupa from the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Silesia in Katowice.

These experiments can change not only the fate of astronauts, but also the direction of development of the entire Polish economy. – Certainly they are billions of zlotys on a Polish scale, which these experiments can bring, because these are groundbreaking technologies. Certainly some of them can bring such gigantic profits – says Andrzej Piątkowski from the Polish Space Agency.
