Police officers from Ciechanów detained a 51-year-old man who was driving a car despite a court ban. He was drunk. Earlier, he started a domestic dispute during which he called his wife and son names, threw objects at them and threatened them with a knife. The man was charged. He was placed under police supervision.

The incident took place last Sunday. – Ciechanów police officers intervened in one of the towns in the Sońsk commune in connection with a report of a domestic disturbance. The officers determined that the 51-year-old was mentally and physically abusing his wife and son. The man, under the influence of alcohol, started arguments with his relatives, during which he called them vulgar words, threw various objects at them and even threatened them with a knife – explained Magda Sakowska, an aspirant from the District Police Headquarters in Ciechanów.

The man got behind the wheel of his car and drove away before the officers arrived. – After just a dozen or so minutes, the police arrested a 51-year-old man in a neighboring town. The man was drunk. A sobriety test showed almost 2.5 per mille of alcohol in his body. After checking the police databases, it turned out that the man had a court driving ban. He has already been convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol in the past, said midshipman Sakowska.

The driver was arrested and taken to police custody. He heard two charges. – The 51-year-old will be charged with abusing his family and driving under the influence of alcohol during the period of driving ban – said Sakowska. The man was placed under police surveillance. For the crimes committed, the 51-year-old faces a sentence of up to five years in prison.
