Protest in Sulejówek. High school students and their parents do not agree with the dismissal of the school's principal. When the mayor showed up to give his notice, they prevented him from leaving the building. Earlier, someone probably sprayed pepper spray in the crowd.
The incident took place in the building at Paderewskiego Street in Sulejówek, where the Secondary School and the Secondary School Complex are located. Jan Paderewski. A city council meeting is to be held there at 6 p.m. One of its points is to be the decision to liquidate the school complex, which includes a high school for adults, a technical school for advertising and commerce, a vocational school and a post-secondary school.
– The liquidation of a school complex means that all contracts with principals, teachers and partners expire. Some teachers and parents believe that such action is actually about dismissing the current principal – tvnwarszawa.pl reporter Artur Węgrzynowicz found out.
Nervous atmosphere and students' protest
As he added, the mayor of Sulejówek, Arkadiusz Śliwa, appeared at the school and handed the principal his notice. – This caused a nervous atmosphere among teachers and students who gathered in front of the office. Parents also began to appear in the crowd. At some point, someone likely sprayed pepper spray. There was an acrid smell in the air, Węgrzynowicz reports.

“Nothing will change for students”
– The liquidation of the schools results from the fact that for many years they were not opened at all because there were not enough interested people in the recruitment processes. Currently, the last year of the Secondary School for Adults will finish their education in June and there are no more classes in these schools. The Secondary School will continue to operate as it does – Daniel Dąbrowski, chairman of the Sulejówek city council, told us.
According to the chairman, the high school will not lose the subsidies received. – Since the closed schools do not physically operate – apart from the last year of the Secondary School for Adults – contracts with teachers and partners will not be terminated or possibly annexed – says Dąbrowski. When asked whether anyone had already held talks with them regarding possible annexes, he replied that he had “no knowledge of the contracts.”
– Nothing will change for students attending the Secondary School and the Secondary School for Adults – assures the chairman of the city council.
When asked about the future of the director, he replies that her contract is “a matter of arrangements and cooperation with the governing body, which is the mayor of Sulejówek.”
On Tuesday, we sent questions on this matter to the city hall in Sulejówek. We are waiting for your reply.
