The body of a tourist who went missing in Crete on Sunday has been found. The man went on a solo trip without any water. This is the sixth person to die in Greece in recent weeks, probably due to overheating.

According to the eKathmerini portal, a 67-year-old tourist from Germany went missing in Crete on Sunday. His wife informed the services – she was concerned about a phone call from her husband, complaining that he was not feeling well. The man was supposed to go on a lonely walk from Omalos to Sougia, but he did not take any water with him.

Another fatality

Local media reported that the hiker's body was found near the entrance to the Tripiti Gorge, more than six kilometers east of the expedition's destination. The services suspect that the man must have lost orientation and entered a completely different trail. During the walk, he probably fainted due to the heat.

Firefighters located the tourist thanks to a signal from a mobile phone. A campaign to secure the body is currently underway.
