The Daily Rehabilitation Department at the Children's Hospital in Krakow-Prokocim will most likely be closed by the end of February. Patients' parents are worried that their children will not get the help they need. The facility calms: places will be in the physiotherapy ward.
We received information about the closing of the branch on Contact24 from Mr. Mariusz, the father of one of the patients. The man emphasized that children with the most serious diseases, including oncological and neurological, are treated in the ward.
– We found out day by day. This is a ward that deals with the most seriously sick children. Most often after surgery. Both oncological and neurological children, as well as those who were in orthopedic problems come here. The situation is dramatic, because at the end of February we are all without rehabilitation – explained Mr. Mariusz.
According to the man, you have to wait six months to get to another rehabilitation department. According to his information, several hundred children are treated in the daily ward.
He also presented his situation. – My son had a blood stroke into the fetal life. We fight, that's how a good word, we have been fighting for him for 13 years. In this ward, however, there are rehabilitated children in a significant condition than my son. The hospital talks about formal and legal issues, but forgets that he is dealing with seriously ill children – he emphasized.
The same equipment, the same staff, different branch
We asked Katarzyna Pokorna-Hryniszyn, a spokeswoman for the University Children's Hospital in Krakow. She confirmed that the daily rehabilitation department would probably be liquidated at the end of February, although the final decision on this matter has not yet been made. – However, I would love to calm all patients and their carers that we will not leave any of our patients without further care. Of course, if the parent wants to go to another center, he has the right to do so, while we make every effort to ensure that every child is looked after by the same rehabilitators and on the same equipment – said a spokeswoman in an interview with tvn24.pl
Such a smooth change is to be possible due to the fact that-as pookna-Hryniszyn explains-currently children from Ord are rehabilitated on the equipment of the physiotherapy plant. And it will be rewritten there after closing the current branch. – We have a very large and well -functioning physiotherapy plant and in this building there was all rehabilitation – says the spokeswoman.
He adds that there are currently 34 patients on the Ord. – However, most of them end the rehabilitation in February, so there are really few children to take care of from March 1 – adds our interlocutor. Asked if the carers of children treated in a closed ward have to take some steps so that their child continues to be rehabilitated in the Prokocim institution that the exact instructions will be forwarded by the doctor during the discharge.
The very closing of the hospital ward explains “personal changes in this area”.
