The environment of Falcona 9 remains in the Polish sky was accompanied not only by a light spectacle, but also a spectacular bang. These sounds can be heard on the recording. Karol Wójcicki, author of the blog “With head in the stars” explained where such sounds came from.
The Falcon 9 rocket entered the atmosphere over Poland on Wednesday morning. Burning residues of the rocket gave an amazing spectacle, reminiscent of the switch of the meteor swarm. In some regions, however, this was accompanied by something else.

Not fireworks, not a fighter
Wójcicki said that he heard a surprising bang himself. “These were not fireworks, it was not a flying fighter – it was so -called Sonic Boomi.e. sound thunder, caused by fragments of the SpaceX rocket, which returned from orbit and spectacularly burned over Greater Poland, “he said.
The expert explained that such a phenomenon arises when the object that rushes through the atmosphere moves at a speed greater than the sound – i.e. over 1235 kilometers per hour. In this way, a shock wave is produced. An example would be supersonic fighters, which “when crossing the sound barrier cause a characteristic, powerful bang. But exactly the same happens when something from space falls into the atmosphere – meteors, fragments of satellites or, as in this case, Falcona 9” elements – he added – he added Wójcicki.
Why is the bang not single in this case? Wójcicki said that this is due to the number of rocket remains. Each part of it generated its own shock wave, and “we heard them as a series of thunders.”

On Saturday, SpaceX issued a statement in which it referred to the Wednesday event.
