Violent weather phenomena are a symptom of climate crisis. The Friday downpour lasted 20 minutes, but it was so strong that the small stream wreaked havoc. It wasn't an ordinary storm. Residents in Podkarpackie Pawłosiów are still cleaning and counting losses. There, on Friday, heavy rainfall caused that he poured out a small stream.

Mr. Władysław's house was completely flooded. Soldiers of the Territorial Defense Forces help him remove a wave of mud, which flowed into his property.

– They help residents, primarily in carrying equipment, furniture from houses that have been flooded. They are often basements. Everything is covered with mud, the properties are also all covered with mud, so there is a need for hands – says Lt. Magdalena Mac from the Podkarpackie Territorial Defense Brigade.

A hail storm passed through the town on Friday. Within 20 minutes, 150 houses were under water. He poured a small local stream.

– an avalanche of hail, an avalanche simply flowed out of these nearby fields. These ditches, this small river, were unable to accept it, and in principle, we left after these 20 minutes, it was 1.2 meters of such mud and hail in the whole yard – says one of the inhabitants of the flooded village of Pawłosia.

Everything happened so quickly that the inhabitants did not manage to secure their homes or evacuate. Fortunately, nothing happened to anyone.

Most houses were damaged at the ground floor level. The losses are huge – damaged cars, household appliances, flooded floors. – Bake flooded all, to the central, and the basement we had, such a pantry, you can say, all flooded. – I think that by the end of the week, to know what was lying and counting the losses well, not to mention the flooded cars – says a resident of Pawłosia, asked how much he in his opinion will take great cleaning.

Residents also help each other. – At the neighbor's almost five centimeters there was silt, water, each of the neighbors, what he could, helped, we took off with shovels, what only he could save everything, we took the furniture to our properties, so that it would not be harmful – says a resident of Pawłosia. – We're here until Friday. If you need to stay longer and help the inhabitants of Pawłosiów, we will stay, we will help everyone who needs it – says Lieutenant Magdalena Mac.

At the latest on Wednesday, the first funds will reach the payment of compensation in the amount of eight thousand zlotys. In the following weeks, more money will be paid.

– These additional funds are depending on whether we are talking about a single -family building or talking about an apartment, they are between 100 and 200 thousand zlotys. Also today, the work has started to estimate the damage to agriculture, because these losses are extensive – says Teresa Kubas -Hul, Podkarpackie voivode.
