The British authorities initiated an investigation after the incident that took place during the flight of the Easyjet line from Manchester to Hurghada. The machine was supposed to fly only 235 meters above the top of the passed mountain. There were 190 passengers on board.
The reports were first published by the British “The Sun”. The incident occurred on February 2 during a flight from Manchester in Great Britain to Hurghada in Egypt. According to the journal, the Easyjet Airbus A320 was supposed to get dangerously close to one of the mountain peaks and at some point to be only 235 meters above him. The newspaper emphasizes that pilots usually fly over the mountains at an altitude of about 1800 meters, which shows how dangerously the plane flying at a speed of several hundred kilometers per hour was dangerously low.
The GPWS (Ground Proximity Warning System) alarm, warning pilots with dangerously short distance from the earth's surface was to start in the cockpit. The alarm ordered the pilot to immediately pick up the machine upwards, which the pilots did. There were 190 passengers on board, who, according to reports, did not realize how close to the top of the mountain they found.
