The flight closes the hub in Hungary: The decision of the Polish carrier means that It will no longer keep connections to the United States and South Korea from the airport in Budapest. Recent cruises took place in the past week. Michał Fijoł, president of PLL FLIGHTsaid that the reason for this move is less and less profitability of these connections.
“Mesh optimization”: Fijoł pointed out that the decision is caused by the need to optimize the mesh. He noted that at the moment The carrier will focus on creating new connections both from Warsaw and regional airports. As an example, he mentioned the connection from Krakow to Paris starting on Monday, March 31.
HUB has been active since 2017: President FLIGHT-U admitted that talks were held with other airports in Central and Eastern Europe. However, he did not want to reveal the details of these conversations. LOT Polish Airlines launched a hub in Budapest in 2017. From the capital of Hungary Polish aircraft flew to several cities in the United States and the capital of South Korea, Seulu. Gradually, however, connections from the US were withdrawn from the connection network. Korean cruises have become less profitable due to the competition of the Korean Air line.
