The head of the Ministry of National Defense: No country will say that it is at the appropriate level of stocks

Asked on Thursday in “Facts after Facts” on TVN24, whether it is as the head of the National Security Bureau says, Kosiniak-Kamysz replied that “it is different”. – Fortunately, a lot has been changed. We signed contracts, we are building ammunition factories – he added.

The head of the Ministry of National Defense noted that the head of the BBN “certainly always has good intentions”. – It was about 155 millimeters ammunition. Because here our production capacity is of course insufficient. We are catching up with a lost time for many last years – he explained. He summed up that this type of ammunition is “too little”.

As he noted, Ukraine She also had insufficient supplies when the war began.

– If we were looking for a country in the world among our allies, then probably no country will say that it is at such a level of stocks as if he expected it – he added. In his opinion, most countries gave some of their supplies Ukraine, “assuming that this is a strategic mission today.”

Kosiniak-Kamysz noticed in the program that “Europe and states produce too little ammunition, far too little”. “And fortunately, Europe has woke up,” he emphasized. – Poland has a chance to get PLN 100 billion, especially for the support of the arms industry. This is important in the production of drones, in the production of ammunition. Not only gathering inventory, they are of course needed, but also to obtain a production capacity, which in one hundred percent, for three shifts, will be launched at the time of danger – he described.

– This is especially true for drones more than ammunition, because it does not change so often. Drones change from week to week. This is the strategic investment of the European Union. Poland was really the first the European Union statewhich said that you could move funds from KPO and the first does it, for the defense industry – he added.

The head of the Ministry of National Defense was still asked when Europe and United States They will produce as many ammunition as the Russians produce. “When I look at the Polish industry and our allies in Europe, it is a matter of two or three years when these abilities will increase several times,” he replied.

The Polish army accumulates ammunition supplies

The head of the Ministry of National Defense pointed to a number of contracts, thanks to which the state of reserves is to be significantly improved. At the end of December 2023, the Armaments and Consortium PGZ-Amunition concluded an executive agreement for deliveries of nearly 300,000 pieces of 155 mm artillery ammunition. The value of the contract is over PLN 10 billion – ammunition supplies were determined for 2024-2029.

In November 2024, the Act on financing actions aimed at increasing ammunition production capacity was adopted. It gives grounds for transferring PLN 3 billion for investments in the production capacity of ammunition to the capital investment fund: PLN 2 billion from the funds of the Ministry of National Defense, the remaining billion is to be donated in the form of RARS securities. Thanks to these funds, the fund will be able to invest in plants that will submit appropriate applications so that they can get involved in the construction of an ammunition factory.

In February, the heads of the Polish Ministry of National Defense and Slovakia They signed a letter of intent aimed at developing military and technical cooperation. The agreement covers four areas, including Common action to increase ammunition capacity, especially 155 mm caliber.
