The house, which overlooks the Blue Earth River in the county of the same name, collapsed into rising waters around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday. The family that had lived there for more than 50 years was forced to evacuate as flooding hit the area.

The fact that the structure literally hangs on the cliff attracted the attention of the local community. Residents gathered along the riverbank to see what would happen to the house, and they captured its collapse on video.

The Blue Earth River is home to the Rapidan Dam, which remains in a state of “imminent failure” as of Monday. The dam, which was built in 1910, is in danger of collapse. The services are monitoring the situation.
