The bypass of Hubenice and Kozłów has been opened. The new road, costing almost PLN 75 million, is to take transit traffic out of the cities.
The bypass was built along the provincial road No. 973, connecting the Lesser Poland and Świętokrzyskie voivodeships. It opened on Saturday.
As Marshal of Małopolska Łukasz Smółka recalled during the road opening ceremony, the bypass complements the bridge over the Vistula in Borusowa built at the end of 2020.
– When we were digging a shovel under the bridge in Borusowa, the inhabitants of the commune reported that this bypass was also needed for safety and development. We promised then that if we could obtain external funds, we would complete this investment. Today we kept our word, said Smółka.
The bypass cost almost PLN 75 million
The new bypass of Hubenice and Kozłów is less than three kilometers long. It starts and ends with a roundabout. The investment included the construction of four- and three-entry intersections, four engineering structures, internal roads and lighting. Existing roads and their drainage were also expanded and rebuilt, bus bays, sidewalks and environmental protection devices were built.
The construction, scheduled to start in October 2022, cost almost PLN 75 million; the voivodeship implemented it with the support of funds from the Government Fund Polish Order: Strategic Investment Program. The contractor was Nowak-Mosty.
According to the region's authorities, the new bypass will divert transit traffic from Hubenice and Kozłów, which increased four years ago after the opening of the bridge in Borusowa.
