The investment, lasting from August 2022, has absorbed 46 million euros and was co-financed by the European Fund. The structure has 720 meters long i 4.2 meters widewhich makes it the longest structure of this type in the Baltic region.
The pier is supported on 87 palacesrising 4.5 meters above the water surface. The property also offers stunning sea views and access to recreational facilities. There is also a viewing platform at the end of the pier. From it you can admire not only the waves of the Baltic Sea, but also the coastal landscape of the Darß Peninsula.
How to get to Prerow?
Getting to Prerow, located on the picturesque Darß peninsula, is relatively easy. From the Polish-German border, for example from Świnoujście, the journey by car takes approx 2.5 hours. The route is approx 170 kilometers and leads mainly through the A20 motorway and then a local road leading through the Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft National Park.
Traveling from other parts of Poland it is worth using the A20 and A19 motorways ensuring quick and comfortable access to this charming seaside resort.
Prerow is also a popular stop for cycling enthusiasts – the surrounding bike trails allow you to explore the coast and surrounding villages in an ecological style.
Where did the idea for the longest pier on the Baltic Sea come from?
The idea of ​​building the longest pier on the Baltic Sea was born in 2004when the Prerow authorities began to notice the tourist potential of their coast. Although the concept of investment has existed for years, the project implementation has only just started w 2022in response to the growing interest of tourists, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic, which contributed to the increase in the popularity of local holidays and travel around Europe.
The pier in Prerow is not only a tourist attraction. They were also designed with the local port infrastructure in mind. The marina allows mooring 33 recreational units and fishing boatsbeing a great convenience for local fishermen and sailing enthusiasts. Interestingly, the pier was designed so that she could moor there 28-meter rescue unit.
Launching is also planned as part of the investment trips to the German island of Hiddensee and to Denmark. A wide tourist infrastructure will also be built near the pier, which will be aimed at attracting a larger number of guests.
The history of the town of Prerow – from a fishing village to a resort
