The prosecutor's office discontinued the investigation into the failure to comply with duties in the implementation of the “Laptop for the student” program – according to the prosecutor's announcement. The program was supervised by the Ministry of Digitization.
– Everything seems to indicate that during the tender there was a violation of criminal provisions, corruption situations could occur – said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digitization Krzysztof Gawkowski in February 2024.
Justification for the redemption of the investigation
“On February 28, 2025, the District Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw discontinued pursuant to Article 17 § 1 item 2 of the Code of Criminal Procedure in the absence of the features of a crime, an investigation into the failure to fulfill his duties by a public official in the period from August 2023 to December 2023 in Warsaw in the course of the Ministry of the Digitization of the” Laptop for the student “program, which was acted to the detriment of the public interest, i.e. 231 § 1 of the Penal Code. ” – donated prosecutor Piotr Antoni Skiba, spokesman for the District Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw in a press release.
As explained, “the procedure was based on classified materials, the justification of the decision on the discontinuation is also secret, and” the said decision is unlawful, it is entitled to a complaint to the Ministry of Digitization. ”
The minister of digitization from April 6 to November 27, 2023 was Janusz Cieszyńskithen – for 16 days – Marlena Maląg replaced him in this position. From December 13, 2023, Gawkowski is the head of MC.
“Laptop for student” program
A free laptop for every four -grade is a promise they made Mateusz Morawiecki and Przemysław Czarnek. Every parent whose child goes to the fourth grade was to get a laptop from the government to an exclusive house.
The tender for the purchase of laptops under the “Laptop for the student” program has been implemented since October 2022. The program was completed in February 2024.

After the first year, about fifteen thousand devices returned from the “Laptop for the student” program. Finally, it was decided to transfer laptops to schools from flood areas. The guidelines in the field of laptop distribution were found in the so -called a flood act, which entered into force on October 6.
On February 8, 2024, the Minister of Digitization during a joint conference with the Minister of Education Barbara Nowacka He reported that the “Laptop for the student” program was suspended. He announced that the “digital student” program would be created in his place.
