Australian Open: Magda Linette will face Moyuka Uchijima in the first round

Unfortunately, from the very beginning the organizers face huge problems and have to adapt to the weather in Melbourne. Due to heavy rains, many meetings were interrupted and some of them may even be postponed to another day. This information was provided by the German media in the context of the competition Maja Chwalińska with Jule Nemeier.

However, some matches were played. Matches scheduled at the Rod Laver Arena, Margaret Court Arena and John Cain Arena, which are all covered, are taking place without interruption and as scheduled. In one of such fights, we met a potential rival for Magda Linette. Let us remind you that the Pole is to play her match match against Japanese Moyuka Uchijima on Monday, January 13. It is worth noting that our compatriot will be the favorite in this competition, as she has won the three previous matches.

It is worth emphasizing that Mirra Andreeva is 17 years old and is considered a huge talent in world tennis. The Pole has already played against the Russian three times, but unlike the Japanese, the less experienced player managed to beat her twice. The 31-year-old from Poznań has so far won one match against this tennis player and it took place in the 1/31 finals of the Olympic Games.

Mirra Andreeva: I always liked her way of playing

At a press conference after reaching the second round of the 2025 Australian Open, Mirra Andreeva revealed some interesting aspects of her routine. – I'm hard to work with because I'm so maniacal. For example, if I eat chicken and rice on the first day of the tournament, I will eat it the rest of the days, even if I don't feel like it, she said, quoted by puntodebreak.com.

The Russian also revealed what tennis player she resembles. – I've always liked the way Martina Hingis plays because I see similarities between us. She was very intelligent on the court and I think I show that too. The difference is that Hingis has never been afraid to be aggressive. This year I also want to do the same, be more direct and finish the points at the net, she said.

Magdalena Fręch is also in the same quarter of the Australian Open ladder. The competitor from Łódź will face Polina Kudermietowa in the first round. The fight between the two White and Red players may take place only in the third round of this Grand Slam tournament. Linette and Fręch fought each other in historic Polish final in Prague. Then the former was on top (6:2, 6:1).
