According to the Portuguese Institute of Sea and the atmosphere (IPMA), on Saturday 12 regions were covered by an orange warning (the second most serious on a three -stage scale) due to the risk of high sea waves, strong wind and snowfall.

The Martinho storm led from Wednesday to Saturday to over 10,000 intervention of civil defense services throughout Portugal. They mainly resulted from the falls of trees and metal structures for roads and railway routes, as well as from flooding. As a result, the gale, whose wind speed exceeded 160 kilometers per hour, eight people were injured, including one hard. The most difficult situation was on Thursday.
