This is probably the worst event that took place at the University of Warsaw, and perhaps also at other universities after World War II – said the rector of the University of Warsaw Professor Alojzy Z. Nowak, referring to the crime in the campus. During a press conference, he made condolences to the family of a murdered university employee. He also talked about the extraordinary courage of the guard, injured during the intervention of the attacker.

- The attack at the University of Warsaw took place on Wednesday around 18.40. The 22-year-old attacked a porter in one of the buildings and then an intervening guard. The woman died on the spot, had extensive head injuries. The man in a serious condition was hospitalized.

On Thursday morning, in front of the Gate of the Main Campus of the University of Warsaw in Krakowskie Przedmieście, a press conference of the rector of the university of Professor Alojzy Z. Nowak and the Minister of Science and Higher Education Marcin Kulask took place.
– The university experiences this tragedy triple. First of all, because our friend, mother of three children, an excellent university employee died. On the other hand, that this murder was made by a student at the University of Warsaw and the third side, that the guardian of the University of Warsaw was also seriously injured – he pointed out prof. Nowak.

The day before, a 22-year-old law student attacked a porter closing the Maximum auditorium after class. The woman died on the spot. An employee of the university guard was injured during the intervention of the attacker. In a serious state he was taken to the hospital with cut wounds of both hands and head.
– He is a very brave person because he stood up for his friend. He stood up for man's respect for man, he showed great humanity – the rector said about the guard.
– I express great regret and compassion for the family of our friend, for her children, husband and all loved ones. I assure you that the university will do everything to be looked after in every respect – assured prof. Nowak. – We will also appreciate the act our employee, the guard, to thank him, but also show that the university is one, that fantastic people are working and studying here. However, the last event shaped what I said, he reserved.
The rector appealed to respect the tragedy and patiently waiting for the results of the investigation of the prosecutor's office. He also thanked the people participating in the Wednesday's Service Action. – The prosecutor's office, a doctor who was here and all people from the University of Warsaw who completed their tasks, behaved in an extremely professional way – he emphasized.

They want to change safety procedures
– This is an absolutely extraordinary situation. This is probably the worst event that took place at the University of Warsaw, and perhaps also at other universities after World War II – the rector said.
On Thursday, representatives of the university met, among others, representatives of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. As the rector explained, the talks concerned primarily the issue of helping the victims of the families and what to do to increase safety at the University of Warsaw and other Polish universities.
– Talks concern on the one hand training of students, students, doctoral students and doctoral students, as well as all university employees, but talks on legislative changes will certainly be held, to strengthen protection and strengthen the strength of people who deal with the security of the university – pointed out prof. Nowak.
– This is probably a process that will last for a moment, but we cannot allow this death to be in vain – emphasized the rector. He added that in the coming days a special committee will be established, which aims to develop proposals for new regulations.
