There were local floods and mudslides in Piedmont, as a result of which some towns were cut off from the world. Several bridges were destroyed under the pressure of water.

On Sunday, firefighters in the town of Montanaro in Turin province rescued a family of three, including a three-month-old baby, who were stuck in their car when a nearby stream suddenly swelled and flooded.

In Noasca, 172 liters of rain fell per square meter. Mayor Domenico Aimonino announced that 15 tourists were helped. He added that the losses are huge. The video below shows gigantic amounts of water falling from a small mountain waterfall in this town, causing a large swell in the river.

On Saturday, a tornado formed in the town of Busano, approximately 40 kilometers away, which seriously damaged one house. No one was injured in this incident, local media reported.

In the Aosta Valley, one of the towns that suffered badly from the terrible weather was Cogne. Residents who were unable to return to their homes because of flooding and damaged roads gathered at a hotel there. Some 200 people were evacuated by helicopter.

A stream that burst its banks in the commune of Valtournenche caused material damage in the center of the popular holiday resort of Cervinia, where shops were flooded. Major damage was also reported in the commune of Valnontey.

Due to difficult weather conditions, about 30 people were temporarily stranded in a shelter at the foot of the Monte Rosa massif in the Pennine Alps. Local flooding occurred in several places due to the overflow of the Anza River.

Heavy rainfall, causing flash floods, also hit Switzerland. Two people died in a landslide in the south of the country.
