Marek Woch, president of the National Federation of Non-Party and Local Government People, announced that he will run in next year's presidential elections. Woch's demands include changing the political system to a presidential-parliamentary one and establishing the Polish National Guard.
The convention of the National Federation of “Non-party and Self-Government” is taking place on Saturday, bringing together a number of non-party associations, including the main part of the social movement “Non-Party and Self-Government”. During the convention, Marek Woch announced that he would run for president.
The mayor of Warsaw, the candidate of the Civic Coalition, has so far announced his participation in the presidential elections Rafał Trzaskowski; president Institute of National Remembrancecandidate PIS Karol Nawrocki; Speaker of the Sejm, leader of Poland 2050 Szymon Hołownia; co-chairman of the Confederation, Sławomir Mentzen, and MP Marek Jakubiak from the Wolni group Republicans.
Woch proposes changing the Polish political system from a parliamentary to a presidential-parliamentary one. In his opinion, increasing the president's agency and at the same time “dispelling doubts surrounding the office” will increase the transparency and effectiveness of the government. He also pointed to the need to strive for fair wages, investments in education and flexible forms of employment.
He wants to create the Polish National Guard
Woch emphasized that Poland should be committed to protecting its citizens, and the country's security should be multidimensional, including housing and environmental protection.
During his speech, Woch paid particular attention to the need to build legal security in Poland, especially – as he emphasized – in the context of building democracy and the rule of law. If there is no similar security, according to Woch, “we will find ourselves at a crossroads.”
Woch's proposals also included the creation of the Polish National Guard – a new formation responsible for internal security, under the direct supervision of the president.
In October this year, at the national meeting of the All-Poland Federation of Non-Party and Self-Government People, a new board was elected, which did not include the current leader of the movement, Robert Raczyński, and Marek Woch became the new chairman of the federation.
