Two 17-year-olds escaped from the Youth Education Center and later stole a Trabant, which was an attraction for the inn's guests, and broke into the kiosk. The trip was ended by the policemen.

On Tuesday, May 21, at night, two 17-year-olds escaped from one of the Youth Educational Centers in the Lipsk district.

– They reached a nearby inn, where they stole a Trabant parked nearby, which was an attraction for restaurant guests. They went to Leipzig in a stolen car, where they broke into a kiosk from which they stole tobacco products and e-cigarettes. Loaded with loot, they set off in a Trabant towards Opole Lubelskie. Unfortunately, their car broke down on the route, so they decided to remove the battery and continued their journey on foot – says the Asp. Monika KarasiÅ„ska from the police in Leipzig.

Trip interrupted

Their further journey was thwarted by policemen from the District Police Headquarters in Opole Lubelskie who appeared on their way. The 17-year-olds were detained and taken to the Leipzig police station. They were charged with theft and burglary, to which they both pleaded guilty.

The stolen items and the car were returned to their owners, and the 17-year-olds were returned to the educational center.

According to the Penal Code, theft is punishable by up to five years in prison, and the crime of burglary is punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
