Inhabitants of some of the western regions of France are struggling with the effects of floods. After pouring the rivers, several hundred people were evacuated, there are no electricity in many homes.
After heavy rainfall in the French department of Dordogne, floods formed on Sunday. The Isle rivers in the city of Périgueux and the Vezere River in the city of Montignac-Lascaux poured out. In places, the water level last night reached six meters. The maximum level is forecast for Monday evening.
On Monday, the Dordogne and surrounding departments were covered by the Meteorological Meto-France Meteorological Service with a second degree warning against floods.
Evacuations, no electricity
Over 100 people were evacuated in Dordogne, including eight campsites. Almost 1,100 houses do not have electricity, the energy services are working on restoring the power supply. However, no one was injured.
The authorities recommend caution to the residents. Many roads have been closed, but firefighters help careless drivers. This morning, the driver driving a car, guided by the GPS indication, broke through the barrier and was imprisoned in the car.
The weather thwarted the plans of the owners of several restaurants in the city of Montignac-Lascaux. As local media write, the premises had to cancel Christmas reservations.
