Three days after the election in Germany, the main parties are created for creating a government. AFD is to be excluded

– We want to create a government until Easter – says a man who will almost certainly become a German chancellor. Holidays fall this year on April 20 and 21. Friedrich Merz confirms that his CDU/CSU block sees a coalition partner in SPD.

– I assume that we can negotiate a good coalition agreement with social democrats and that we can do it in a reasonable time, so that we have a majority government to the Easter, which will be able to act – says the candidate for German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.

Coalition negotiations on the part of SPD will not be attended by the outgoing Chancellor Olaf Scholz, whose relations with the Marez have long been, to put it mildly, tense.

Scholz intends to remain at the head of the government until the new chancellor was elected. Meanwhile, it is removed into the shadows in the structures of its party, which achieved the worst result in its history in the election. Coalition talks with Christian Democrats are to be conducted by the co -chairman of the Lars Klingbeil party.

On both sides there is the awareness that due to the international situation and the attitude of Donald Trump towards Ukraine, negotiations on the creation of a government cannot take place, as in the past, months.

– We also want conversations to start quickly. We don't want to waste time. We want these conversations to be conducted quickly, but also exactly – indicates Lars Klingbeil, a co -chairman of the SPD.

The most important issue, not only from a German point of view, is the implementation of a defensive package worth EUR 200 billion.

For this purpose, politicians must find a way to circumvent debt limits. The press speculates about the creation of a special fund for the modernization of the army and support for Ukraine – perhaps before the end of the term of office of the current parliament.

“Everything has to go very quickly. So fast that CDU/CSU and SPD may even want to start working in an old Bundestag to facilitate the life of your future coalition in the new parliament,” reads the daily “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung”.

This scenario is not excluded by Friedrich Merz, who in matters other than defense is a supporter of the belt tightening.

– I do not confirm or deny. There is no way that we would reform the debt brake in the near future. If this happens at all, it will be quite extensive and difficult work. I also read that it is already speculated about a special fund. We talk to each other, but it's far too early to talk about specifics – says Friedrich Merz.

The new Bundestag will gather for the first time at the end of March. On behalf of the AfD, he was entered, among others, by politicians who openly relativize Nazi crimes. Matthias Helferch once described himself as “a friendly face of national socialism.”
