“There was a lack of explosive actions, really strong blows and, let's face it, better form of Tyson, who found out that there is one rival he can't beat. Time” – we wrote in Sport.pl after Jake Paul's fight with Mike Tyson, a fight in which the former world champion decisively lost on points. Still, the evening in Texas wasn't entirely bitter for the older American. He raised a large sum of money. The media reported the amount as high as $20 million. However, it turns out that he may soon be forced to give back some of this money. Who specifically and why?
Mike Tyson may be in trouble. American defendant. It was about fighting Paul
As reported by ctvnews.ca, a lawsuit has been filed against the 58-year-old. This was submitted by Medier, a Cypriot company dealing with promotion. From January to March, it cooperated with Tyson and his company Tyrannic. After two months, the boxer was to break the contract, claiming that Medier had violated its rules.
Now the Cypriot company is demanding the return of a large amount of money. We are talking about over 1.5 million dollars – 800,000 is the amount of unprovided services, and the remaining 729,000 is related to “wasted production and promotion costs”. Why is Medier demanding money if, according to Tyson, it was the company's fault that the contract was terminated?
Well, because the Cypriot company has a different opinion on this matter. He states that the actual reason for breaking off cooperation was… the American's fight with Paul. “The real reason for the hasty and unlawful termination of the contract with Tyson and Tyrannic was that the boxer entered into a contract sponsored by Netflix. According to the agreement, he was to fight the influencer Jake Paul,” the lawsuit reads.
What's next for Tyson?
We will find out what the outcome of this case will be in the coming weeks. Will Tyson ever step into the ring again? It's hard to say, although recent reports suggest that the fight with Paul may have been his last. – I think it's over. My stepmom says he's done and they're a team. It's their joint decision – delivered by Amir, the son of the legendary boxer.
