There is a reaction of the Ministry of Science on media reports about irregularities at the University of Siedlce. – We will ask the rector for very quick explanations – said Deputy Minister Karolina Zioło -Pużuk on Thursday. It is about information about inappropriate messages sent to subordinates by the rector and mobbing, as Wirtualna Polska wrote.

Journalists found that the rector of the University of Siedlce, prof. dr hab. Mirosław Minkina sent sexual information to subordinates. According to WP information, the rector was also in exchange for support in the rector's elections, to offer one of the lecturers an additional paid position and employment of his wife. The university authorities are also accused of mobbing by university employees, cited in the material of the Polish Army.

WP reported that the Vice -Rector for Innovation and Cooperation dr hab. Malina Kaszuba, a university professor, was to send to approx. 400 employees of the University of Siedlce a vulgar poem. It was supposed to be a response to the voices of criticism after the university plots were awarded to the Vice -Rector and secretary of the rector.

Ministry's reaction

The deputy head of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education (Ministry of Science and Higher Education) Karolina Zioło -Pużuk referred to the matter: – Universities are unique places, and science employees and rectors are people from whom we require the highest standards. Such standards in the scientific environment apply. That is why situations in which someone breaks them are so painful.

The deputy minister of science announced that the ministry would take the University of Siedlce under the magnifying glass. – We will not leave it and we will not blur under the rug. We will ask the rector to explain this matter very quickly and continue to proceed – she noted.

She reminded that the Ministry of Science and Higher Education was looking at the problem of mobbing at Polish universities. – At the end of May, the mobbing team will start working. Its purpose will be, among others, to develop standards of conduct in the case of making mobbing, but also seeking the possibility of changing the law in the scope of better prevention of mobbing and reacting faster to such events – she informed.

– I feel very sorry for all people who are victims of mobbing. I am taken over by their courage that they decided to talk about it loudly, because it is difficult in every workplace – she said.

She emphasized that the ministry wants universities to be good and safe workplaces, as well as places of safe learning and development. “I want to make this task one of my goals at the Ministry of Science,” Zioło -Pużuk declared.

University spokeswoman dr Beata Gałek sent a Polish press agency a statement: “In connection with the publication of the article on the Wirtualna Polska website, we inform you that we will not refer to the content contained therein, which often concerns the sphere of private life of university employees and are not related to the current functioning of the university.
