Kamala Harris, vice president and Democratic candidate for president, sent a letter to the American Polish community. Its content was obtained by the correspondent of “Fakty” TVN, Marcin Wrona. She wrote in it, among other things, that “Polonia played an integral role in shaping the history” of the USA. She added that if she wins the presidential election, she will stand on the side of allies, including Poland, to defend “democratic values and oppose aggressors.”
The letter, obtained by the American correspondent of “Fakty” TVN, Marcin Wrona, was sent by Harris on the occasion of Polish American Heritage Month, an annual event celebrated in October by Polish communities.
The vice president wrote that she “pays tribute to the deep roots and lasting contributions of Americans of Polish descent to the United States.” “For generations, Americans of Polish descent have enriched our nation with their commitment to family, faith and community, helping to build a stronger, more vibrant America,” Harris said.
Harris: The Polish community has played an integral role in shaping our country's history
“From the first Polish settlers who arrived in Jamestown in 1608, to the millions of Polish immigrants who came seeking freedom and opportunity, the Polish-American community has played an integral role in shaping our country's history,” the vice president wrote.
“The community has always welcomed and supported successive waves of immigrants from Poland, maintaining a strong sense of community and solidarity with those who arrived in subsequent generations. Whether it was in business, the arts, education or government, Americans of Polish descent have demonstrated a tenacious ethic work, unwavering patriotism and a strong commitment to the ideals of democracy and justice,” added the Democratic candidate.

Harris: Polonia contributes to every aspect of life
Harris also wrote that “throughout history, Americans of Polish descent have answered the call to service, fighting for freedom both at home and abroad.” “Their legacy is reflected in the lives of those who fought in the American Revolution and in the countless Polish-American soldiers who protected our nation's values on the front lines of wars, conflicts and peacekeeping missions,” she added.
“Today, more than nine million Americans of Polish descent call this country home, contributing to every aspect of American life. From entrepreneurs and innovators to artists and public servants, the community of Americans of Polish descent continues to shape the American spirit of diversity and dynamism,” the vice president emphasized.
Harris: I will stand on the side of the allies, including Poland
The Democratic candidate also wrote about the challenges that “democratic allies and friends” of the United States, “especially Poland and Ukraine, face today.”
According to Harris, “at this critical moment Donald Trump and JD Vance would side with Putin and force Ukraine to give up large parts of its sovereign territory.
“I will stand by our allies and partners, including Poland, to defend our democratic values and oppose the aggressors. And I will work to ensure Ukraine's victory in this war – for their freedom and for the free world,” she emphasized.
The candidate also referred to the elections that will take place next Tuesday, November 5. “Americans will soon have to choose between leadership that works with our allies and a failed approach that leaves America alone. The United States cannot and should not isolate itself from the rest of the world.”
“On behalf of the American people, I extend my heartfelt thanks to the Polish-American community for their continued contributions to the development of our country. I stand with you in honoring your heritage and celebrating the extraordinary legacy of Polish Americans in the United States,” she added at the end of the letter.
