According to FOX, on Friday the US Supreme Court rejected the application for delaying enforcement. Governor Henry McMaster also refused to pardon Sigman. Protestants against the death penalty gathered before the Department of Prison of South Karolina. Many of them, including the killer's brother, spoke against execution by shooting.

From 1976, when the Supreme Court in the United States decided that the death penalty was in line with the constitution, the execution in this form was carried out only three times. Each time in Utah, the last time in 2010. However, there has been no execution in South Carolina for 13 years.

Corinna Barrett Lain, a professor at the Faculty of Law at the University of Richmond, said NBC News that the United States decide to do this method because “they cannot get medicines” that would allow a deadly injection. “They cannot find qualified healthcare employees who would carry out them (executions),” she added.
