The head of the Pentagon called on the French Minister of Defense and other NATO members “to take the main responsibility for the conventional defense of Europe” – the US Department of Defense was said after the meeting of the heads of the US and France defense departments.

The head of Pentagon Pete Hegeth met on Thursday with the French defense minister Sebastien Lecorn. “The secretary called on France to increase defense expenditure and, along with other NATO allies, to take the main responsibility for the conventional defense of Europe” – it was written in a message after a meeting in the defense department USA.

“Secretary of HegeSeth and Minister Lecorn also discussed related priorities, including ongoing efforts for lasting peace in Ukraine,” we read.

HegeSeth repeated a call, which he first delivered during his first trip to Europe, during which he also visited Poland. He said that America would not be more “the main guarantee of security in Europe”.

The meeting of the head of the Pentagon and Minister of Defense of France took place at the same time when in Paris US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and a special Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff talked to French President Emmanuel Macron and representatives of the UK German on negotiations regarding war in Ukraine.
