Police officers from Wałcz (West Pomeranian Voivodeship) received a report about the disappearance of a 76-year-old man who left home and did not return. The man has health problems, so a search for him began immediately.
On December 1, police officers in Wałcz received a report about the disappearance of a 76-year-old man. He was supposed to leave the house in the afternoon, taking his bicycle with him. From that moment on, there was no contact with him. His relatives reported that he had health problems.
“About 100 officers started searching for the man. Representatives of the forest guard, soldiers of the 100th Signal Battalion and residents were also involved in the search,” we read in the police statement.
Hospitals, hotels, exit roads from Wałcz, nearby small towns, basements and vacant buildings were checked. The next morning, the man was found in the area of ”Morzycówka” – the Nature, Forest and Ecological Education Center in the Wałcz Forest District.
He was hypothermic and required medical care, he was taken to hospital.
“If we have an elderly person at home, it is worth equipping him with, for example, a GPS watch, which will help in finding him quickly” – suggest the officers.
