Warsaw. 16 zebr in Wesoła for reconstruction

Road workers are preparing changes on Jana Pawła Street in Wesoła. As many as 16 pedestrian crossings without traffic lights received low marks during a security audit. The Municipal Road Administration plans to build thresholds, asylum and roundabouts.

John Paul II is one of the main paths of the old love. It is a collective street, whose both ends connect with the Brest road – for the southern part of the estate. Many pedestrian crossings in this region received low grades during a security audit of 2016-2020. Road workers announce a number of changes that will improve the situation of pedestrians.

“A tender is underway for the implementation of safety changes at Jana Pawła II Street. We intend to implement them wholesale on as many as 16 pedestrian crossings on the section from Jodłowa Street to Dworkowa Street. These are primarily the passages through Jana Pawła Street. We will also renovate the street surface – between Pogodna and Ułańska Streets and Macro -Macro Bagno and Witkowski roundabout ZDM.

Two of the aforementioned crossings are located at the intersection with Jodłowa Street. Both zebras received a rating in the audit. Both will be equipped with asylum. The road will be narrowed, and its geometry will be further changed at the Western inlet. Thanks to narrowing, road workers will be able to designate new parking spaces on the road. The previous small bay will be dissolved.

Roundabout and narrowing of the road

The intersection with Diamondowa Street will undergo large changes. A roundabout will be built there. This means improvement at all four transitions there. TE by ul. Diamond received a rating of 3 in the audit. Even worse notes of the auditors issued zebrom through Jana Pawła II Street – both rated at 1 – on which asylum would be created. Road ul. John Paul II will be narrowed to one belt. In addition, its geometry will be changed at the Western inlet.

We also planned asylum at the crossings – both with a rating 2 – through Jana Pawła II street at the intersection with Fabryczna Street. Here, too, the road will be narrowed and its geometry will be changed at both inlets. Parking on the north side of the street between Fabryczna and Jutrzenki streets will be moved to the road. Previous places will be partially dissolved.

At the intersection with the streets of Jutrzenki and Marmowa there are also crossings through Jana Pawła Street, which require improvement of safety. First of all, it was on the west side of the intersection – during the audit received a rating of 2. The auditors assessed the one on the other side – on the 4th. Before the transitions, they will appear release thresholds. Will be mounted on the eastern side of the intersection.

“We will also install the thresholds on the eastern side of the intersection with ul. Jewelka. On the same side there is a pedestrian crossing, which received a rating in the audit. In turn, 2 auditors assessed the zebra on the west side. This will be equipped with asylum. In addition, the west inlet will be narrowed,” ZDM said.

Changes are also planned at transitions at the height of Zdrojowa 1 and ul. John Paul II 31. Both were rated 3. There will be release thresholds before both. In the case of the first thresholds we will mount on the south side. In turn, before the second on the north side. We will use the same solution at two crossings at the intersection with ul. Manor. These also received rating 3. They will be mounted on the north side of the intersection.

Last year, road workers improved safety at 90 crossings and implemented smaller changes to the next several dozen. In turn, since 2016, they have already improved security at about 670 transitions.

“We have already opened offers in the tender. There are eight of them – from less than PLN 2.3 million to just over 3.2 million PLN. Now we will look at them and choose the best. The contractor will have 4 months at the task. After this time, another 16” will join the aforementioned several hundred transitions – he calculated at the end of ZDM.
