On Kontakt24 we received photos and recordings of an unusual passenger who traveled first class on a Katowice – Białystok train today. A ram on a leash and in a diaper, joined the other passengers along with his carer and dog in Warsaw.
Mr. Marcin, the author of the photos and the film, explained that he was traveling on Wednesday on the Intercity train from Katowice to Białystok, when at approximately 1:40 p.m. at Warszawa Centralna station a woman with a dog and a ram boarded the first-class carriage.
– Both animals were on a leash, the ram also had a diaper. At the entrance, the conductor was not too keen to accept new passengers, but the owner somehow asked her to leave so they could go. She promised that she would take care of them and watch over them, so they eventually set off with us – he reported.
“The conductor lost her patience”
– I have nothing against animals, so at first it didn't bother me. The ram did bleat and run around the carriage, but at first it could be considered funny, but later it started to make a mess, and the contents of the diaper fell out on the floor. The lady owner cleaned up the excrement, but over time it became very unpleasant and some of the passengers had to change to other carriages, and we are talking about first class. Finally, two of the passengers started to intervene, calling attention to the fact that the ram had started to bite the shoes of another passenger, and when the animal made a mess for the third time, the conductor lost her patience, approached the lady and informed her that in five minutes the train would stop in Szepietowo and she was forced to ask her to leave the train with the animals – he described. The man emphasized that the animals had traveled most of the way. – Szepietowo is about 40 minutes before Białystok, so they traveled with us for about an hour and a half. As I said, in other circumstances it would be very funny, but it's a bit different on a long journey, especially if someone bought more expensive first class tickets to have a comfortable journey. In any case, I thought that maybe this whole situation would interest someone or at least make them laugh – he concluded.
An unusual situation
Maciej Dutkiewicz, the spokesman for PKP Intercity, admitted in an interview with editorial team of Kontakt24that the situation is not typical. – Of course, many people travel with animals under the conditions specified in the regulations, although most often these are cats or dogs, or possibly smaller animals transported in special carriers. As for a small ram, I think it can be treated like a large dog and in such a situation there are also rules in accordance with the regulations, regardless of the species of the animal, which should be followed during transport. However, if the regulations regarding the transport of animals are broken and the animal, for example, starts to make a mess, then the conductor has the right to ask the owner and the animal to leave the vehicle before the planned end of the journey – he explained.
